Pentecost Weekend for the Walkenried Marksmen
The Pfingstschießen at the Kupferberg shooting range is a traditional event of the Schützengesellschaft Walkenried, which has shaped the Pentecost weekend in the southern Harz community for generations. The venue is the Kupferberg shooting range, a club range firmly anchored in Walkenried's shooting landscape on the edge of the town center.
Competitive Shooting
The focus is on competitive shooting by club members. Depending on the discipline, shooters compete with air rifles, .22 caliber rifles, or large-caliber pistols, with scoring based on classes and age groups. The shooting is part of the regular club activities and serves both for measuring athletic performance and for preserving the shooting tradition.
Club Life and Hospitality
Unlike the big Schützenfest in August, the Pfingstschießen is characterized by intimate club life. Catering is provided by the club itself, with social conversations, exchange of experiences, and the communal experience of the shooting tradition taking center stage alongside the sporting competition.
Openness to Visitors
As a rule, the event is open to interested visitors – both as spectators of the competitive shooting and as guests for the club catering. Visitors who wish to get to know the club life of the Schützengesellschaft Walkenried or who are themselves interested in club membership are explicitly welcome.
