Traditional vintner village in Palatinate wooden huts during the entire German Wine Harvest Festival
The Pfälzer Winzerdorf „Haiselscher" is one of the most traditional and popular events within the German Wine Harvest Festival. The name „Haiselscher" is Palatinate dialect for „little houses" — and that's exactly what characterizes the scene: characteristic small Palatinate wooden huts, erected in the Neustadt city center for the duration of the festival, where Palatinate vintners serve their wines.
The 2026 edition spans the entire duration of the German Wine Harvest Festival — from Friday, September 25th to Sunday, October 12th, 2026, making it 18 consecutive festival days. The vintner village is thus the all-day centerpiece of the Wine Harvest Festival, open continuously and independent of individual special events.
The Haiselscher architecture is a Palatinate cultural asset: Small wooden huts with classic Palatinate design elements, often featuring the signature color of the respective vintners or wine villages. Each hut is a small showcase of Palatinate wine culture — with a serving counter, tasting area, small seating, and often traditional decorations.
The tasting selection covers the full Palatinate diversity: Riesling (the king grape of the Palatinate), Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner, red wines (Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, Cabernet Sauvignon), rosé wines, and of course Palatinate sparkling wine (Sekt). Each wine village in the region — from Bad Dürkheim in the north to Schweigen-Rechtenbach in the south — is usually represented by several huts.
The culinary offerings include classic Palatinate dishes: Saumagen (Palatinate national dish), Bratwurst, Leberknödel, Flammkuchen, Quetschekuche (plum cake), and much more. The atmosphere is the typical Palatinate blend of popular conviviality and enjoyment-oriented wine culture.
The vintner village is a meeting place for the Palatinate wine scene and its guests — many vintners are personally present at their huts and serve the wine themselves. This direct interaction is the special value of the vintner village and an aspect that distinguishes the Palatinate Wine Harvest Festival from other wine fairs.
The 2026 Vintner Village is open for 18 days and continuously accessible. The exact program for 2026, including a detailed list of participating wine villages and vintners, will be published by the organizer in late summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
The event is part of the rich Palatinate festival culture, which attracts thousands of guests to the Neustadt an der Weinstraße region every year. The combination of wine culture, Palatinate hospitality, and established festival traditions forms the unmistakable identity of this Palatinate festival institution.
