A running tradition from around the world
Parkrun is an international movement of free, weekly 5-kilometer runs. What began in London in 2004 is now a global community with events in over 20 countries. Parkrun Rubbenbruchsee Osnabrück is one of the German locations and takes place every Saturday at 9 AM at the popular recreational area of the City of Peace.
Concept: Free, weekly, for everyone
The concept is consistently low-threshold:
- Free — no entry fee, no club membership
- Weekly — every Saturday, all year round
- For all levels — walking, jogging, running, all paces
- 5 kilometers — a uniform distance worldwide
- With timing — results are published online
International community at Rubbenbruchsee
What makes the Osnabrück Parkrun special is its international composition. Regular participants come from England, Australia, South Africa, Finland, and the Netherlands — expats and international students from the University and University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück. Tourists with Parkrun experience will find immediate connections here.
Course of events
The meeting point is Barenteich 2 at Rubbenbruchsee. Start 9:00 AM. The course leads around the lake — a scenically attractive, largely flat route with asphalt and trail sections. After the run, many participants meet informally for a chat or coffee nearby.
One-time registration
Anyone who wants to run registers once for free at parkrun.com.de and prints their personal barcode. With this barcode, you can participate in any Parkrun worldwide — without further registration. Timing is done via scanner at the finish line.
Volunteer team
Around four helpers per week support the event: marshals, timekeepers, tail walker (runs last so no one is left behind). Anyone who wants to help out is very welcome.
