Legendary Punk-Rock Open-Air at Coburg Freight Yard since 2005
Outside Rodeo is an integral part of the German punk festival landscape and has been organized annually by the non-profit association Monsters of Rodeo e.V. since July 2005. The association itself has been organizing concerts in Coburg since 1999; the organizers are based in the district of Coburg, in the state of Bavaria. For years, the venue has been the Alte Güterbahnhof (Old Freight Yard) in Coburg – an authentic industrial railway area that, with its brick walls, tracks, and platforms, provides exactly the right backdrop for a punk open-air.
The musical profile is broadly defined: classic Punk Rock forms the backbone, complemented by Ska, Reggae, Streetpunk, Hardcore, and Folk-Punk. Each festival features between 15 and 20 bands from Germany, Great Britain, Spain, Canada, and Australia. For years, the programming has focused on a mix of scene classics, sought-after international acts, and local newcomers.
For 2026, Monsters of Rodeo has secured SLIME, one of the best-known and oldest punk bands in Germany, as the headliner. The Hamburg-based band, founded in 1979, is one of the defining acts of German punk and is performing live again regularly after a long break. Further confirmed bands for 2026 include Anda Morts, Dummy Toys, and many more; the full lineup will be published on outside.rodeo.
Outside Rodeo sees itself not just as a festival, but as a meeting point for an entire scene. The festival is inclusive: children under 14, people with disabilities (GdB from 50%), and refugees have free admission. The U18 ticket price is also significantly reduced. The festival is run entirely by a volunteer team, and the net proceeds go towards the association's work and solidarity projects.
During the two festival days, several thousand punks and fans from all over Germany flock to Coburg. The city in northern Bavaria, famous for its Veste Coburg fortress, is otherwise known for its Renaissance heritage and the Coburger Schützenfest (shooting festival) – yet it is here that one of the most important punk festivals of the German summer has established itself.
From July 17th to 18th, 2026, the German and international punk scene will gather for the 17th time at the Coburg Alte Güterbahnhof. Organizer Monsters of Rodeo e.V. presents a two-day open-air featuring classic Punk Rock, Ska, Reggae, and Streetpunk.
The Hamburg punk icon SLIME has been confirmed as the headliner – one of the most famous and oldest acts in German punk history (founded in 1979). Other confirmed bands include Anda Morts and Dummy Toys; the full lineup will be continuously updated on outside.rodeo. As always, the festival's motto is "Punk lives. Coburg rocks."
