Traditional Easter fair from April 4 to 12, 2026 in Hann. Münden — rides, food stalls, and fireworks on the second Saturday
Hann. Münden is the city where the Werra and Fulda rivers meet to form the Weser. With its half-timbered old town — Alexander von Humboldt called it one of the seven most beautifully situated cities in the world — Hann. Münden is one of the most visited tourist destinations in southern Lower Saxony. The Ostervolksfest on the festival grounds is part of the annual event calendar and, with its long tradition, provides a firm Easter highlight.
The Ostervolksfest 2026 spans nine days — from Holy Saturday, April 4, to Sunday, April 12. This covers the entire Easter holidays and offers both locals and tourists the opportunity to visit the traditional folk festival. Showmen from Northern Germany travel here annually and provide a varied program with rides, carousels, a Ferris wheel, bumper cars, and many other attractions.
Culinary delights are provided by a variety of food stalls: Bratwurst, fries, Schmalzkuchen (lard cakes), almonds, gingerbread hearts, cotton candy, crêpes, steak sandwiches, and much more cater to the guests. Beer wagons, sparkling wine stands, and non-alcoholic drink options complement the offerings. The typical folk festival atmosphere — with carousel music, the scent of sweets and Bratwurst, and colorful lighting in the evening — is particularly impressive on weekends.
The undisputed highlight of the Ostervolksfest is the grand fireworks display on the second Saturday — in 2026, that's April 11. Thousands of spectators line the festival grounds and surrounding areas to experience the multi-minute pyrotechnic show. The fireworks have become a hallmark of the festival and are eagerly awaited year after year.
The Ostervolksfest is an annual tradition in Hann. Münden and a reliable date in the city's spring calendar. Families from all over the region and tourists visiting the city of three rivers at Easter make the festival one of their planned activities.
The 2026 edition, with its nine days of festivities, covers the entire Easter weekend and a large part of the Easter holidays. This gives families, teenagers, and tourists ample opportunity to visit the festival — whether on Holy Weekend, during the Easter holidays, or in the days between Easter and the closing weekend.
The grand fireworks display will take place on the evening of Saturday, April 11, 2026, and will be the emotional highlight of the festival.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the showman association and the city of Hann. Münden in the spring. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
