Four days of Palatinate Kerwe with Kerwerock, youth game day, and Kerweredd
While many Palatinate Kerwen are purely traditional, Hinterweidenthal has set a modern accent with the "Kerwerock" on Friday evening. The organizer is the gymnastics club Hinterweidenthal (TVH), and the program consists of rock concerts by regional bands. The Kerwerock attracts a younger audience and adds the concert dimension to the classic Kerwe format – a concept that has become a model in several Palatinate Kerwen.
On Saturday, the action moves to the SVH (Sportverein Hinterweidenthal) sports field for the youth game day. Young footballers from the region meet for an all-day tournament, with catering and a stage for socializing. The combination of club sports and Kerwe gives this day its own character and introduces the younger generation to the Kerwe tradition.
Sunday features the classic Kerwe program: musical brunch, club lunch, Kerwe parade, and Kerweredd – the humorously mocking festival speech in Palatinate dialect. The Kerweredd takes aim at the events of the village year, with wit and intimate knowledge of all the mishaps and episodes of the place.
Monday is for a convivial closing: brunch, lunch, afternoon activities with remaining catering and the last Kerwe atmosphere. Those who come on Monday are part of the Kerwe family and enjoy the quieter hours after the hustle and bustle of the previous days.
Hinterweidenthal is located in the southern Dahner Felsenland on the Wieslauter river, known primarily for the Teufelstisch (Devil's Table) – one of the most spectacular sandstone formations in the Wasgau and a landmark of the region. The Kerwe is the highlight of Hinterweidenthal's club life and an occasion to cultivate both tradition and conviviality.
The Kerwe is organized by the municipality of Hinterweidenthal with the gymnastics club TVH and the sports club SVH. Current program details in the Hinterweidenthal event calendar.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in advance. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years.
