Three cultural events at the Landskron castle ruins: Cabaret with Tobias Mann, Celtic Fire Night, and the castle theatre production of Don Juan
For years, the Landskron castle ruins have been one of the most beautiful open-air venues in Rheinhessen. Built in the 13th century by the Staufers, later partially destroyed and eventually becoming ruins, the complex high above Oppenheim today offers a spectacular setting for cultural events with its stone towers, walls, and courtyards. The city of Oppenheim uses this atmosphere for its continuous cultural programming, concentrating special highlights in the summer as the Oppenheimer Kultursommer.
The 2026 edition includes three confirmed dates in June:
On Friday, June 12th, 2026, comedian Tobias Mann will perform with his show Real/Fake. Mann is one of Germany's most prominent political satirists, regularly appearing on ZDF and the regional ARD channels. In his shows, he addresses the political, social, and media shifts of the present day. Real/Fake explores the tension between actual reality and manipulated, staged, or fabricated narratives.
On Saturday, June 13th, 2026, the Celtic Fire Night with the band Dhalia's Lane will follow. The group plays traditional Irish and Celtic Folk with modern accents – fiddles, whistles, bodhrán, guitars, bass, and vocals merge into music that oscillates between meditative depth and driving danceability. Combined with the castle backdrop and atmospheric lighting, the evening promises an extraordinary experience.
On Friday, June 19th, 2026, the castle theatre concludes with a production of Don Juan. The classic story of the seducer and his encounter with the stone guest will be performed in the castle ruins in a version specifically conceived for this location. The walls, towers, and courtyards become part of the scenography.
Tickets for all three events are available through the city of Oppenheim's online booking system. Advance sales have already begun. In case of bad weather, an alternative venue will be used.
The 2026 edition focuses on a deliberate genre diversity with cabaret, Celtic Folk, and classical theatre. All three events take place on the open-air stage of the castle ruins; an alternative venue is available in case of bad weather.
