Eight Years of Renovation — Three Days of Reopening
The Weimar City Palace at Burgplatz is part of the UNESCO World Heritage 'Classical Weimar' and one of the city's most important buildings. The entire East Wing has been closed for extensive restoration work since 2018. In October 2026, it will open its doors again for the first time — and Klassik Stiftung Weimar is using the weekend of October 2nd to 4th, 2026, for a festive weekend that also marks the highlight of the 'Opening 2026' theme year.

The opening weekend of the East Wing brings all these threads together in one place.

Getting There
Weimar is accessible by ICE/IC via the Frankfurt–Erfurt–Leipzig line (stop Weimar Hbf). From the main station, it's about a 15-minute walk to the City Palace at Burgplatz. By car: A4 (Weimar exit), parking garages in the city center.
