Discover Art Where It's Created
The Open Studio Days Hohwachter Bucht are among Schleswig-Holstein's most unusual art events. Three times a year — in May, August, and October — around 24 studios, galleries, and art spaces open their doors around the Hohwacht Bay in the Plön district. The identifying mark: a red chair at the entrance.
Diversity of the Baltic Sea Art Scene
The range extends from acrylic painting and sculpture to jewelry design and ceramic art. As visitors move from studio to studio, they not only get to know the works but also meet the artists personally, see their workspaces, and experience workshops in action. This directness distinguishes the format from classic gallery visits.
Panker — Heart of the Studio Days
In Panker, there are several central stops:
- Hedisign at Gut Panker (Gut Panker 18) — the goldsmith workshop of Hedi Peters. Visitors experience the fascination of goldsmithing directly at the workbench.
- Panker Kultur e.V. — in the Gadendorf district, in a former village inn, the association around painter Henning Rethmeier exhibits his works and is committed to the regional art scene.
Hohwacht Bay — Coast of Art and Culture
The Hohwacht Bay, located between Hohwacht, Behrensdorf, Panker, and Lütjenburg, is one of the quietest corners of the Schleswig-Holstein Baltic Sea coast — and a region of artists with tradition. Gut Panker, with its baroque ensemble, forms the cultural center: workshops, small manufactories, and galleries are located side by side. The Open Studio Days have made this scene visible and transformed it into a fixed date on the regional cultural calendar.
