Visit the herb and monastery garden at Weingut Lösch
The "Open Garden Day" is an initiative established for decades, where private gardens, show gardens, and special historical garden landscapes are made accessible to the public for one day. The events are usually coordinated regionally and take place in late spring or early summer — when the gardens are in full bloom.
In addition to classic viticulture, Weingut Klosterhof Lösch cultivates an extensive herb and monastery garden. The garden follows the centuries-old tradition of monastic cultivation of medicinal and culinary herbs and is divided into several thematic beds: an apothecary garden with classic medicinal herbs, a spice garden with old culinary plants, a wild perennial bed, a butterfly meadow, and a tasting corner with edible flowers and berries.
On May 31, 2026, the garden will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors can stroll through the beds on their own or join guided tours with the Lösch family. Information boards explain the individual plants, their use in cooking and medicine, and their origin. Additionally, the winery offers refreshments, small culinary delights, and wine tasting on its premises.
With its vineyard sites, historic village center, and several wineries, Worms-Abenheim is a worthwhile destination for wine and garden enthusiasts. Open Garden Day at Klosterhof offers an ideal occasion for a day trip, which can be combined with a walk through the vineyards or a stop at one of the local wine taverns.
Open Garden Day on May 31, 2026, falls during the garden's peak growing season — many medicinal and culinary herbs are about to bloom or are in bloom, and the diversity is at its most visible. A worthwhile Sunday excursion for garden and plant lovers.
The visit can be easily combined with a walk through the Abenheim vineyards or a stop at one of the local wineries.
