Four-day courtyard festival around Ascension Day with open wineries in Traben, Trarbach, and Wolf
The long weekend around Ascension Day has been one of the most important travel periods in the Moselle Valley for decades. Hikers, cyclists, wine tourists, and day-trippers flock to the region, and the winemakers respond with a coordinated, multi-day courtyard festival. The Open Cellar Days in Traben-Trarbach and Wolf are one of the oldest and most attractive of these events.
From Thursday, May 14th, to Sunday, May 17th, 2026, the cellars and courtyards of the participating winemakers in Traben, Trarbach, and nearby Wolf will be open daily from 11 am to midnight. The long opening hours allow visitors to visit several courtyards in one day, taste at their own pace, and experience the town and vineyards between stops.
The focus is on direct contact with the winemakers: Families serve directly in the cellar, inner courtyard, or wine shop, explaining their vineyard sites, styles, and current vintages. The wines are accompanied by winemaker's platters, tarte flambée, Schiefertaler ham, regional cheeses, and sweet specialties.
On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, live music in the courtyards creates additional atmosphere. The range includes acoustic solo sets, jazz trios, and cover bands. Sunday is traditionally more relaxed, aimed primarily at families and early-evening drinkers.
Anyone who wants to get to know the Middle Moselle intensively over a long weekend will find the ideal opportunity at the Open Cellar Days. The combination of open courtyards, long opening hours, regional cuisine, and live music offers a rich, very authentic Moselle experience.
The 2026 program follows the proven format of previous years. The participating courtyards decide individually on their music program and food menu, but coordinate opening hours and joint communication through the platform of the winemakers of Traben-Trarbach and Wolf.
From Thursday afternoon, the first courtyards open, on Friday and Saturday the full festival operation unfolds with live music in numerous courtyards until late at night. Sunday is aimed at early-evening drinkers and families.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
The list of participating wineries and wine shops will be updated on the website traben-trarbach-wolf.de.
