A Festival History Since 1971
Open Air Worpswede boasts an exceptionally long history. Since the early 1970s, the festival has been continuously organized by the youth center Die Scheune and the Freundeskreis Scheune e.V. In 2026, it marks its 55th edition, adding another chapter to a festival history that has shaped generations of Worpswede youth and festival enthusiasts.
Three Days of Celebration with Different Focuses
Festival Friday kicks off with the ceremonial keg tapping and the first bands – admission is free. Saturday is Family Day with a flea market, bouncy castle, and family activities. Sunday features the grand concert program: opened by an open-air church service, several bands will perform throughout the day – the festival highlight in 2026 is the comeback of Avery Mile as the headliner. The festival thus has its own rhythm, shaping the Pentecost days in a special way.
2026 Program — Church Sponsorship, Secular Openness
The sponsorship by Freundeskreis Scheune e.V. and the connection to the Protestant church shape the festival's character. The open-air church service on Sunday morning is part of this tradition. At the same time, the musical program is broadly diverse, ranging from pop and indie to melodic rock.
