Three summer film evenings under the open sky at GZ Ziegenbrink
The Open Air Kino FOKUS is one of those formats that show how vibrant the district culture in Osnabrück is. On the outdoor grounds of the GZ Ziegenbrink, a community center in the south of the city, the FOKUS e.V. association sets up a professional open-air screen every summer. Seating, sound technology, and a small bar transform the forecourt into a cozy cinema evening.
The selected films will be shown on three consecutive Thursdays in August:
The selection reflects the curatorial profile of the association: German-language productions with social or historical relevance, which often have only short screening times in multiplex cinemas.
Admission from 8:30 PM each evening, as soon as dusk sets in. Film start around 9:15 PM — exact start depends on daylight conditions. Admission is a low five euros per evening. Blankets and warm clothing are recommended, as summer nights in Lower Saxony can be cool. Loungers and benches are provided by the organizer; folding chairs may be brought along.
The association FOKUS e.V. is a central player in independent cultural work in Osnabrück. In addition to the Open Air Kino, it organizes the Folk-im-Viertel festival, concert series, and educational programs. Its roots in the Ziegenbrink/Schölerberg district ensure a loyal audience from the neighborhood, students from the nearby university, and cinephiles from all over the city.
The GZ Ziegenbrink at Hauswörmannsweg 65 is accessible via bus lines from the city center. Parking is available in limited numbers — arriving by bicycle is expressly encouraged. In case of rain, the open-air event will move to the GZ hall or be cancelled; short-term information will be provided on the website fokus-os.de.
The Open Air Kino 2026 presents a carefully curated selection of German-language films. With five Euros per evening, it is one of the most affordable summer cinemas in Lower Saxony.
