OLMUN is one of the oldest and largest Model United Nations conferences in Germany. The format simulates the work of the United Nations: Students (primarily from upper secondary school) take on the roles of ambassadors from various UN member states and negotiate current international issues in English.

Over 700 delegates from around the world

With more than 700 delegates, OLMUN sets standards. Participants come from Germany, Europe, and countries on all continents. This international composition lends the conference its special authenticity — the English negotiation language is not just for practice, but a necessity.

Ten committees

OLMUN is divided into ten committees that represent the most important UN bodies — the General Assembly, Security Council, Economic and Social Council, Human Rights Council, and specialized committees. Each committee addresses current topics and adopts resolutions at the end of the conference.

Four days of conference

The conference runs from June 16 to 19, 2026. Opening with a welcome and initial sessions on Tuesday, followed by two full negotiation days on Wednesday and Thursday, concluding with resolution votes and the Closing Ceremony on Friday. Accompanying social events in the evenings.

Carl von Ossietzky University as the conference venue

The University of Oldenburg provides lecture halls and seminar rooms. The academic environment offers a suitable atmosphere for negotiations.

Educational value

OLMUN trains more than just English and negotiation skills. Participants acquire background knowledge on global politics and their assigned country, practice public speaking and argumentation, and learn diplomacy and compromise. Many former delegates report formative personal experiences.
