Advent Market in Offenbach City Centre

The Offenbach Christmas Market transforms into the first major Advent event in the city in the second half of November. On the central squares of the city centre – especially Aliceplatz and Wilhelmsplatz – vendors set up their stalls: arts and crafts, Christmas decorations, mulled wine, bratwurst, roasted almonds, crêpes, and all the winter food offerings that make up a Christmas market.

Programme and Atmosphere

The programme is classic: festively illuminated stalls, Christmas music from the stage speakers, and occasional live performances by local choirs and music groups, meeting places around the mulled wine stands. Compared to the large Frankfurt markets – Römerberg and Mainufer – the Offenbach Christmas Market is significantly smaller and more familiar, without the tourist crowds of the neighbouring metropolis.

Long Duration

With a run from November 16 to December 29, 2026, the market covers not only the classic Advent period but also the days between Christmas and the end of the year – unusual for German Christmas markets, which usually close on December 24.

Public Transport Saturdays

The city of Offenbach has established its own transport concept for the Christmas market in recent years: On five Saturdays during the market, the use of city bus lines is free – an attempt to dissuade city centre visitors from travelling by car. The measure is implemented in cooperation with the Offenbach public transport operator.

Part of the Offenbach Advent Programme

The Christmas market is part of a broader Advent programme in Offenbach: concerts, theatre performances, the Christkindlmarkt, sales exhibitions in the city centre galleries, and special exhibitions at the German Leather Museum and the Klingspor Museum are spread across the weeks around Christmas. Those who visit Offenbach in Advent often combine the market with these programme points.
