Association Meeting with a Long Tradition
The Northwest German Shooting Federation (NWDSB) is the state shooting association in northwestern Germany, uniting numerous district and club associations. Its annual State Shooting Day alternates between the member associations – in 2026, East Frisia is the host. Thus, the East Frisian Shooting Federation takes on the role of host for the 73rd edition of the association's meeting.
Aurich-Middels as the Venue
The main venue is the Landgasthof Alte Schmiede in the Aurich district of Middels. This choice underscores the deep roots of shooting sports in rural areas: traditional country inns, rather than city halls, are the typical home of shooting sports. Several hotels in Aurich and the surrounding area are designated as accommodation for the arriving delegations.
Program Highlights
The three-day program includes a delegates' assembly, sporting honors, lectures on association topics, a ceremony with representatives from politics and sports, and, as the social highlight, the State King's Ball on Saturday, April 11th, with approximately 450 invited guests. There will also be special shooting competitions and receptions.
Significance for Aurich
Aurich presents itself as a host city, showcasing East Frisian shooting sports. For the city and the region's hospitality industry, the State Shooting Day is a significant economic factor, generating several hundred hotel nights and restaurant visits.
