Palatinate Winemakers and Ferris Wheel with Sunday Shopping
The Novembermarkt brings the Palatinate wine experience to Pirmasens city center. Although Pirmasens itself is not located in a wine-growing region, its proximity to the Palatinate wine region is close – and the city uses this closeness for a wine festival that marks the transition from autumn to the pre-Christmas season. In the large wine tent on Schlossplatz, Palatinate winemakers present their wines for tasting and sale.
A highlight of the market is the Ferris wheel, set up in front of St. Pirminius Church. From the gondolas, a new view of the city center opens up – the historic buildings, the festive lighting, and the lively market squares. The Ferris wheel is also a photo magnet and gives the market a visual landmark.
Live music ensures a festive atmosphere on all three days. Bands and solo artists perform on stage, entertaining guests – the musical accompaniment is part of the feel-good package that a wine market event offers. The mix of mood music and relaxed sounds matches the audience's expectations.
A special feature of the Pirmasens concept: the city's hotel restaurants are responsible for the culinary catering. This elevates the standard – instead of a classic festival canteen, there are curated dishes from the kitchens of Pirmasens' gastronomy. This qualitative component distinguishes the Novembermarkt from many other festival markets.
Shops are open on Sunday – from 1 PM to 6 PM, the city center shops open additionally. This combination of a wine event and shopping opportunities is a clever link that Pirmasens city marketing has successfully used for years. The city center becomes an experiential space where enjoyment and shopping are seamlessly combined.
The 2026 edition continues the proven concept: a wine festival, Ferris wheel, live music, high-quality culinary offerings from hotel restaurants, and Sunday shopping form the cornerstones. The city also uses the date to kick off the pre-Christmas city center program.
The exact program for 2026, including participating winemakers, the band lineup, and any special promotions, will be announced by the City of Pirmasens in advance.
