The Baldeneysee, with its 2.6 square kilometers, is the largest of the six Ruhr reservoirs and the most important recreational area in southern Essen. In summer, the shore regularly becomes a stage for open-air concerts – the Seaside Beach Baldeney on the southern shore is one of the most beautiful locations, with a sandy area, beach chairs, and a view of Villa Hügel.

Nina Chuba – Current Pop Voice from Hamburg
Nina Chuba (actually Nina Katrin Kaiser) is one of the most successful German pop artists of recent years. With hits like "Wildberry Lillet", "Mangos mit Chili", and "Million Dollar", the Hamburg native has enriched the German-speaking pop scene with her own unique style – a mix of rap, pop, and indie, often with tongue-in-cheek lyrics. Her live performances are known for their energy, with a backing band and elaborate stage setup.
Seaside Beach Baldeney as an Open-Air Stage
Seaside Beach Baldeney is an urban-private beach area on Baldeneysee, which is open in summer as a beach bar with cocktails, food trucks, and a lounge area. For concerts, a main stage is set up on the sandy area, with the audience standing and sitting in a semicircle in front of the stage. In the background: the lake, the forests on the north shore, and Villa Hügel. One of the most atmospheric concert locations in the Ruhr area.

Essen, with around 580,000 inhabitants, is the ninth-largest city in Germany and the seat of the Ruhr Regional Association. Baldeneysee, created in the 1930s as a reservoir for the Ruhr River, was a symbol of the industrially shaped region for decades. Since its renaturation and the opening of Seaside Beach, it has once again become one of the city's landmarks – Nina Chuba's concert adds a particularly summery note to this transformation.

Getting There
Public transport: S-Bahn line S6 to Werden or Kupferdreh, then take a bus or walk to the south shore. From Essen main station, about 25 minutes with the S6. By car via the A52 (exit Essen-Süd) – parking at Seaside Beach is limited, Park-and-Walk from Werden is recommended.
Tickets
Tickets from €80.40 via Eventim and baldeneysee.ruhr. It is recommended to book early, as the concert is expected to sell out.
On-site
Stage on the beach, standing and some seating areas, beach bar with cocktails and food trucks, cloakroom. In case of bad weather, the stage will be set up covered – the concert will take place.
Tips
Arrive early for sunset. The transition from daylight to stage lighting over Baldeneysee is the most beautiful hour of the evening. Can be combined with a day at Seaside Beach: swimming, lounging, cocktails – and then the concert. In August, the weather at Baldeneysee is usually mild; a light jacket is advisable.
