Open-air concerts with tribute shows at the castle ruins in the Pfälzer Leiningerland
The Neuleiningen castle ruins tower on a spur above the Eckbach valley and are among the most impressive castle complexes in Vorderpfalz. Built in the 13th century by the Counts of Leiningen-Dagsburg, it dominated the region for centuries. Today, its walls, towers, and courtyards form the natural stage for the Neuleininger Burgsommer, which combines the romantic atmosphere of the site with professional live music.
The concept of the Burgsommer is based on high-quality tribute bands that bring the great classics of rock and pop history to the stage. Anyone who wants to experience an evening with the songs of Bon Jovi, Queen, Genesis, Led Zeppelin, or Bob Marley will find a concert series here that deliberately focuses on popular repertoires. The audience is intergenerational, from teenagers to grandparents who grew up with the original songs.
The Burgsommer is not a single festival weekend, but classically extends over four weekends between June and July. This creates a concert series where the audience can attend either individual evenings or a whole concert package. Tickets are usually available via Reservix and other advance booking platforms.
Before and between concerts, there are food stalls with Palatinate specialties, regional wine, and beer. The ascent to the castle ruins is on foot via the steep climb from Neuleiningen. The atmosphere on the mountain is relaxed and summery; the audience enjoys the combination of the historic setting, the evening sunset, and the live music under the open sky.
The 2026 edition continues the proven concept of multiple concert weekends with top-class tribute bands. Over a period of about one month, the castle ruins are transformed into an open-air stage on weekends, with a different tribute show delighting the audience each time.
Bounce has been one of the most distinguished Bon Jovi tribute bands in the German-speaking world for years. The Queen Kings are dedicated to the work of Freddie Mercury and his band, Mad Zeppelin brings the epic songs of Led Zeppelin to the stage. The Phil Group represents the repertoire of Genesis and Phil Collins, Night Fever brings back the disco anthems of the Bee Gees. Marley's Ghost is dedicated to Bob Marley's reggae, JusToto and Puls round off the program.
For the exact assignment of individual bands to the weekends and further acts, please refer to the official website of the organizer.
