Palatinate Kerwe at the Partnerschaftsplatz with concert by Fine R.I.P., bike tour, fireworks, and live music – always the 1st weekend of October
The Neuhofen Kerwe, affectionately called "Neiheffer Kerwe" in Palatinate dialect, is one of the most vibrant October Kerwen in Vorderpfalz. It takes place every year on the first weekend of October at the Partnerschaftsplatz in the center of the municipality of Neuhofen. With its five festival days from Friday to Tuesday, it is one of the longer Kerwen in the region.
The name "Neiheffer Kerwe" is the Palatinate dialect version of "Neuhofen Kerwe". This use of the local language underscores the strong regional identity of the community and its Kerwe. Like all Palatinate Kerwen, the Neiheffer Kerwe also upholds classic rituals: opening with a keg tapping ceremony, raising the Kerwe tree, a Kerwe procession with the Kerweborscht (Kerwe master of ceremonies) and a humorous Kerwerede (Kerwe speech) in dialect.
The venue is the Partnerschaftsplatz in the center of Neuhofen. The square offers ample space for a stage, festival tent, club stands, and an amusement ride area. During the Kerwe days, the square and parts of the adjacent streets are closed to traffic to make space for festival visitors.
The Neiheffer Kerwe traditionally extends from Friday to Tuesday. This makes it longer than most Palatinate Kerwen and offers a packed program of live music, Kerwe traditions, and family entertainment. Local clubs – the fire department, sports club, music club, and the Kerweborscht group – run the stands and form the volunteer backbone.
Neuhofen is a municipality with around 6,700 inhabitants, located in the southern Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis district, between Speyer and Ludwigshafen. The municipality belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Rheinauen, along with Altrip, Otterstadt, and Waldsee. The Kerwe is one of the most important community-defining festival events of the year.
The 2026 edition continues the traditional Neiheffer Kerwe as one of the most vibrant October festivals in Vorderpfalz. The Partnerschaftsplatz will be transformed into a complete Palatinate festival atmosphere for five days, featuring a festival tent, stage, club stands, and amusement attractions. The combination of classic Kerwe tradition and modern concert evenings – like the performance by Fine R.I.P. – makes the Kerwe attractive to all age groups.
The exact overall program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in late summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
