About Nastätter Oktobermarkt
Nastätten, with just under 4,200 inhabitants, is the central town of the so-called Blauen Ländchen – a hilly landscape in the eastern Rhein-Lahn district, which owes its name to the historical importance of woad (for indigo-blue production). The town is located somewhat off the main transport routes, giving it a quiet, rural character and simultaneously making the Volksfeste true community celebrations – the main audience being the people of the region itself.
The Nastätter Oktobermarkt is the biggest event of the year. Lasting five days from Wednesday evening to Sunday or Thursday evening to Monday (depending on the year), it is one of the longer Volksfeste in Rhineland-Palatinate. It is organized by the city of Nastätten in close cooperation with local clubs and showmen.
The program follows a classic Volksfest format:
- Opening evening with a traditional torchlight procession by clubs and their delegations through the town center, followed by barrel tapping by the mayor in the festival tent
- Middle days: Full operation of the fairground with rides (carousel, bumper cars, chain swing), market vendors selling various goods, candy stalls, shooting galleries, snack stands
- Family day as the finale – Monday with reduced prices for rides and child-friendly entertainment
In the festival tent, local clubs provide catering – Hunsrück and Rhein-Lahn specialties, draft beer, regional wines. There is musical entertainment on various days with cover bands, dance bands, or DJ sets.
With its date on the 4th weekend of October, the Oktobermarkt 2026 falls on October 22–26 – Thursday to Monday. Free admission.

- Thursday 22.10. evening: Opening with torchlight procession by clubs through the town center, followed by barrel tapping in the festival tent by the mayor
- Friday 23.10.: Full operation of fairground rides, evening dance music in the festival tent
- Saturday 24.10.: Main visitor day, full operation throughout, main concert or dance band in the evening
- Sunday 25.10.: Family program, morning pint, dance band in the afternoon
- Monday 26.10.: Family day with reduced ride prices, winding down in the evening
