Autumn Festival in the Heart of Nagold
For decades, the Nagolder Urschelherbst has been the autumnal highlight in the city calendar of Nagold in the Calw district. On Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 11, 2026, the city centre between Turmstraße and the market square will open for the large arts and crafts market with a wine festival and Sunday shopping. The event is organised by the City-Verein Nagold e.V., in cooperation with the city administration and local retailers.
Arts and Crafts Market with a Regional Focus
Throughout the weekend, potters, weavers, glassblowers, jewellery designers, felt artists, and basket makers will present their works on Turmstraße and in the squares of the old town. The focus is on handmade unique pieces — knitwear, felt art, pottery, and jewellery are central. Many exhibitors come from the Black Forest, the Heckengäu, and the wider region.
Urschel Wine and Tasting
The festival is named after the Urschel — Nagold's old legendary figure, which gives the town its unique identity. The "Urschelwein" is served during the festival and forms the culinary heart. In addition, Nagold's restaurateurs and the City-Verein will serve Swabian specialities — Maultaschen, Zwiebelrostbraten, Flammkuchen — and international classics.
Sunday Shopping
On Sunday, October 11, 2026, Nagold's retailers will open their doors from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. for the Sunday shopping event. The festival will continue until 6 p.m. — allowing you to stroll relaxed from stall to stall, enjoy a glass of Urschel wine, listen to live music in various locations, and visit the shops.
Nagold and the Black Forest District
With around 22,700 inhabitants, Nagold is the largest town in the Calw district and the urban centre of the upper Nagold valley. The historic city centre with its half-timbered houses, the Schwabe town mill, and the Hohennagold ruins shape the image — a medium-sized town between the Black Forest, Heckengäu, and Schönbuch, ideal for an autumnal city festival. The Urschelherbst complements Nagold's festival culture, which also includes the garden exhibition in May and the Christmas market in Advent.
