306th birthday of Baron von Münchhausen combined with International Museum Day
Bodenwerder has been known as the Münchhausen town for centuries. Hieronymus Carl Friedrich Freiherr von Münchhausen was born here in 1720, lived here, and it was here that the legendary tall tales surrounding him developed, which are now part of global storytelling culture. Bodenwerder carefully preserves the legacy of its famous son through its museum, townscape, festivals, and cultural events.
The combination of Münchhausen's Birthday and International Museum Day is a programmatically astute choice: both events aim to make cultural content accessible to a broad audience. In the Rathauspark, Bodenwerder offers a low-threshold encounter with the figure of Münchhausen and his museum.
From 2 PM to 6 PM, a program will be offered in the Rathauspark. The Trio Wolkenriss will provide musical accompaniment, and the Münchhausen play at 4 PM is a compact performance by the amateur theater group. The Münchhausen Museum will be open concurrently from 10 AM to 5 PM and will feature a special exhibition.
The Rathauspark Bodenwerder is a central square in the town and has been a proven venue for events related to Münchhausen for years.
The detailed program for 2026 (setlist for Trio Wolkenriss, exact program points for the Münchhausen play, special exhibition in the museum) will be published by the Münchhausen town before the event. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years: music in the Rathauspark from 2 PM, Münchhausen play at 4 PM, museum from 10 AM to 5 PM with a special exhibition.
