Open-Air Performance "Moving Stones" Dance/Culture Summer

The Kultursommer Rheinland-Pfalz 2026 is themed "The Golden Twenties" and supports around 250 projects statewide with a total of approximately 4 million euros. In Trier, the dance production "Moving Stones" is part of this program: two open-air performances on August 14 and 15, 2026, bring contemporary dance into the public space of Germany's oldest city.

The programmatic title "Moving Stones" refers to the interplay between dancing bodies and stone architecture. Trier, with its centuries-old Roman structures – the Porta Nigra, the Amphitheater, the Kaiserthermen, the Barbarathermen, and the Konstantin Basilica – is an exceptional resonance space for such a project. Stones that have stood for almost two thousand years are briefly "set in motion" by the dancers' movements.

As the title is funded as an open-air dance production within the Kultursommer, it can be assumed that the venue, choreography, and ensemble will be announced in the weeks leading up to the premiere.
