Three days of Motorcycle World Championship on the legendary Sachsenring — Liqui Moly Motorcycle Grand Prix Germany July 10-12, 2026
From July 10-12, 2026, the Liqui Moly Motorcycle Grand Prix Germany will kick off on the 3.671 km long Sachsenring circuit — one of the most important stops on the MotoGP World Championship. The track is located in Hohenstein-Ernstthal in the Zwickau district, state of Saxony, and is in direct tradition of the legendary old Sachsenring, a pure road course where motorcycle races were already held in the 1920s. The current Sachsenring was completed in 1996 as a permanent race track and, with its 14 corners, 800m altitude difference, and the famous 'Karussell' tight section, is considered one of the most demanding tracks on the calendar — pure riding technique, hardly any long straights, a classic.
All three main classes of the Motorcycle World Championship will race over the three days: MotoGP (1000cc, around 290 hp, top riders Marc Márquez, Francesco Bagnaia, Jorge Martín), Moto2 (765cc, junior class), and Moto3 (250cc, entry-level class). Friday features the free practice sessions, Saturday the qualifying with the decisive sprint, and Sunday the main race. Before the race, there's the traditional Riders' Parade, where the stars drive through the pit lane in open-top convertibles to sign autographs.
Around 200,000 spectators flock to the Sachsenring over the weekend — motorcycle enthusiasts, touring riders, families from all over Central Germany and European countries. The fan culture is legendary and has been officially declared Saxon cultural heritage: caravan cities around the track, camping with live music, family tents with German flags, Italian Tifosi with Bagnaia banners, Spanish fans of the Márquez brothers. Between sessions, paddock tours, rider autograph sessions, and the pit lane open up for fans. On the industrial wasteland next to the track, stunt shows, brand presentations (Honda, KTM, Ducati, CFMOTO), riding technique courses, and a large stage program with bands take place.
Friday is 'Family Day' — children under 14 get free admission with a family ticket, plus there are exclusive offers and kids' activities. Camping on the grounds is possible and part of the MotoGP experience: several camping areas around the track open from Wednesday, with sanitary facilities, electricity, and shuttle service to the paddock. Spending a weekend at Sachsenring offers a mix of racing pilgrimage and open-air summer festival — the atmosphere of the pit lane, the roar of the engines at the start of practice, the silence before the start, and the roar of 200,000 fans as the machines enter the first Karussell.
The Sachsenring has been a permanent fixture on the MotoGP calendar since 1998 — redesigned after reunification in the 1990s, the track quickly attracted world-class races. Marc Márquez won here multiple times in a row, earning the circuit the nickname 'Márquez Land'. ADAC Sachsen organizes the event in partnership with Liqui Moly, DF1 (live free-to-air broadcast in Germany), MDR Sachsen, and numerous regional sponsors. A sustainability initiative for forest reforestation in Saxony flanks the event.
Three days of top-level motorcycle sport await you from July 10-12, 2026, at the Sachsenring. The MotoGP stars will compete in all three classes (MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3) on one of the most demanding tracks on the calendar. The main race will take place on Sunday afternoon.
