Three-day neighbourhood festival on Brandenburger Allee with stage programme, rides, flea market, and sign language interpretation
The Monheim Septemberfest is the annual high festival of the Berliner Viertel in Monheim am Rhein. For three days — from September 18 to 20, 2026 — Brandenburger Allee becomes a festival mile: amusement rides, food trucks, flea market stalls, and a central stage with a continuous live programme. The event is organised by Wilfried Hoffmann GmbH (Leverkusen) in collaboration with the Quartiersmanagement (Neighbourhood Management) of the Berliner Viertel and the Monheim city administration.
The Septemberfest is designed as a classic neighbourhood festival — not a mega folk festival, but a meeting point for the residents of the Berliner Viertel and the surrounding districts. It combines the typical elements of a Rhenish neighbourhood festival:
One of the most remarkable features of the Monheim Septemberfest: the entire stage programme over all three days and all musical performances is translated by sign language interpreters. For a neighbourhood festival of this size, this is an extraordinary commitment — and makes the festival accessible for deaf and hard-of-hearing people from the entire region.
The Berliner Viertel is one of Monheim's best-known and liveliest neighbourhoods, characterised by a culturally diverse population, social housing, and active neighbourhood management. LEG NRW Wohnen GmbH, as the largest property owner, financially supports the Septemberfest — part of a broader urban development commitment in the neighbourhood.
Monheim am Rhein is located directly on the Rhine, about 20 kilometres south of Düsseldorf and 20 kilometres north of Cologne, in the Mettmann district. With approximately 43,000 inhabitants, Monheim is a medium-sized city that has gained supra-regional recognition for its special tax policy and its cultural momentum in recent years. The Septemberfest is one of the traditional city festivals that combine this cultural momentum with everyday neighbourhood work.
From September 18 to 20, 2026, Brandenburger Allee in Monheim's Berliner Viertel will be transformed into a festival mile with rides, a food mile, a flea market, and a stage programme. Sign language interpretation of the entire stage programme will be provided throughout all three days. A family-friendly neighbourhood festival with a focus on children's entertainment and community interaction.
A detailed stage programme will be published on monheim.de in early September.
