Midsummer Night on the Hochrhein
The Midsummer Night Festival by the New Gospel Singers Murg is an annual open-air concert held around the summer solstice in the southernmost corner of Baden-Württemberg — directly on the Hochrhein, opposite the Swiss border. It is part of the established summer concert series by the New Gospel Singers, which has become a fixture in the region in recent years.
The New Gospel Singers Murg
The New Gospel Singers Murg are a mixed choir from Murg and the surrounding area, whose repertoire goes far beyond classical gospel. The program includes traditional spirituals, modern gospel songs, pop and rock classics in choir arrangements, musical highlights from works such as "Sister Act", "The Lion King", or "Les Misérables", as well as international songs from Africa, Latin America, and Scandinavia. The choir is accompanied by a live band — usually piano, bass, drums, and guitar.
The Setting: the MuRheNa Natural Swimming Pool
The MuRheNa natural swimming pool is one of the most beautiful natural pools in Southern Germany — an ecologically maintained swimming pond with a swimming area, sunbathing lawns, beach zones, and a direct view of the Hochrhein, which forms the border with Switzerland here. The name "MuRheNa" stands for Murg, Rhein (Rhine), Natur (Nature) — and perfectly describes the concept: swimming in a pond without chlorine, in close proximity to the great Rhine river. On June 20, 2026, the pool will become a concert venue: the stage will be set up so that the audience experiences the choir with the Hochrhein landscape in the background.
Murg on the Hochrhein
Murg is a municipality with around 6,800 inhabitants in the Waldshut district, directly on the Hochrhein between Bad Säckingen and Laufenburg. Its location on the southern edge of the Black Forest, opposite the Swiss canton of Aargau, gives the region a special character — Alemannic tradition, lots of nature, short distances to Switzerland. The Midsummer Night Festival is a tip for anyone who wants to spend a summer evening with music in the countryside.
