About Mit-mach-Sommerfest

Every year around the summer solstice, the Mit-mach-Sommerfest transforms Heringsdorf's Goethepark into an open-air creative workshop. For two days, families and the curious can craft jewelry from Baltic Sea finds in numerous hands-on workshops, design suncatchers, practice yoga in the park, create acrylic paintings with the ColorBike, or participate in team challenges. Live music, walk-about acts, and a family program round off the weekend.

Creative Midsummer Festival in Goethepark

The Mit-mach-Sommerfest is one of the most unusual festival formats on Usedom Island: instead of a classic folk festival atmosphere, the focus is on creative workshops and hands-on activities for families. The venue is the spacious Goethepark in Heringsdorf at Friedenstraße 4 – a central green meeting point in the seaside resort.

Workshops for All Ages

The workshop program includes numerous hands-on stations:

  • ColorBike: Acrylic paint on canvas using a centrifugal technique (EUR 20, ages 5+)
  • Tile and Bag Painting: family-friendly decoration (EUR 5, ages 3+)
  • Jewelry from Baltic Sea Finds: accessories from beach materials (EUR 2–10, ages 10+)
  • Suncatchers made from leather and beads (EUR 3–7, ages 6+)
  • Aluminum Wire Art: jewelry and tealight holders (EUR 5–25, ages 7+)
  • Macrame Jewelry with feathers and beads (from EUR 10, ages 8+)
  • Soap Making for all age groups (EUR 3.50)
  • Team Challenge (donation basis, ages 7+)
  • Fish Braiding from willow and natural materials (EUR 7, Sunday only, ages 7+)
  • Relax Yoga (EUR 10, Saturday only): 2:30 PM, 4:00 PM, and 5:30 PM, ages 12+, max. 6 participants

Live Music and Walk-about Acts

Alongside the workshops, the stage program and walk-about acts create a festive atmosphere:

  • Saturday: Cheerleader performances, walk-about acts, bingo, "Speed Cups XXL", quiz games, live soul and funk band
  • Sunday: Children's performances, tree walk-about act, gaming tournaments, 90s pop unplugged

Midsummer on the Baltic Sea

The festival takes place around June 21st, the longest day of the year – a traditionally symbolic date in Northern Europe. In Goethepark, creativity, movement, and encounters are the focus in this special atmosphere. The municipality of Ostseebad Heringsdorf belongs to the Vorpommern-Greifswald district.
