Mindener Maimesse — Spring Funfair for the Whole Region
The Mindener Maimesse is the largest spring funfair on the Weser and one of the most traditional Volksfeste (public festivals) in Ostwestfalen-Lippe. From May 1st to 10th, 2026, the Kanzlers Weide fairground on Minden's Weser bank will transform into a colorful showmen's area — ten days, over 100 showmen, all classic and modern rides.

The Mindener Maimesse offers an unusual variety of rides:
- Classic roller coasters and adrenaline rides: Shock Wave, Jekyll & Hyde, X Factor
- Family-friendly rides: Anthony's Abenteuer, Disco Swing
- Water attraction: Big Splash
- Iconic observation ride: Europa-Rad (Ferris wheel with Weser panorama)
- Children's themed worlds with carousels and games
Family Day on May 6th
Wednesday, May 6th, 2026, is Family Day — on this day, many showmen offer reduced prices, there are special family packages, and an enhanced program for children. The ideal day for a visit with younger children.
Fireworks on May 8th
Friday, May 8th, 2026, in the evening, a grand fireworks display will crown the Maimesse — over the fairground and the Weser. One of the largest city fireworks in the region — Minden's city center becomes the grandstand, the Weser the mirror surface.

The Maimesse runs for ten consecutive days:
- Mon–Thu: 3:00 PM–10:00 PM
- Fri: 3:00 PM–11:00 PM
- Sat: 2:00 PM–11:00 PM
- Sun: 2:00 PM–10:00 PM
Kanzlers Weide — The Fairground on the Weser
The Kanzlers Weide fairground is located on the west bank of the Weser, directly adjacent to Minden's city center. The location is perfect: The city center with its restaurants and shops is within walking distance, and Minden Westfalen train station is about 1.5 km away. In the background: Minden's historic skyline with the cathedral and town hall.
Minden — Gateway to the Weser Uplands
Minden, with around 81,000 inhabitants, is the largest city in the Minden-Lübbecke district (North Rhine-Westphalia, Ostwestfalen-Lippe). Characterized by its location at the waterway junction between the Mittelland Canal and the Weser, with a historic Hanseatic city structure and significant shipping history. The Maimesse is one of the most important tourism and identity events of the year.

Getting There
Train: Minden Westfalen station, from there approx. 20 min. walk to the fairground or by bus. By car: A2 exit Bad Eilsen or Veltheim/Porta Westfalica.

Free admission. Rides and refreshments are subject to charge.

Mon–Thu 3 PM–10 PM · Fri 3 PM–11 PM · Sat 2 PM–11 PM · Sun 2 PM–10 PM.
Tip
Family Day on Wednesday, May 6th is the best choice for families with children (reduced prices, less crowded). Those who want to experience the fireworks on May 8th should arrive early — the best spots are along the Weser promenade.
