Advent Atmosphere at Rathausplatz
The center of Melle, characterized by the historic town hall and the city center, is the scene of a lovingly designed Christmas market during Advent. The village of huts offers a wide selection of stalls for sales and refreshments, curated by the city administration and Melle-City marketing in collaboration with numerous local associations. Characteristic features include festive lighting, large Advent stars above the streets, and musical accompaniment by Advent choirs, brass bands, and school orchestras.
Several Advent Weekends
Unlike many classic Christmas markets, the Melle Christmas Market extends over several Advent weekends — from the Friday before the first Advent until the third Advent. This makes it one of the longest Advent markets in the Osnabrück district. Families can visit the market multiple times and experience different program points on different weekends.
Diverse Accompanying Program
Advent concerts in St. Petri Church, performances by local choirs, readings, hands-on activities for children, and occasional visits from St. Nicholas round off the program. The adjacent retail stores are open on Advent Sundays, allowing market visits and pre-Christmas shopping to blend seamlessly.
