Opening of the event year with market, car show, food trucks, and Sunday shopping
For many years, the Mayen Spring Market has marked the festive start of the city's event calendar. When the first warm rays of sunshine fall over the Eifel after the long winter months, locals and visitors gather in the central market square in front of the Old Town Hall to usher in spring together. The town of Mayen, located in the heart of the Vulkaneifel and over 1300 years old, uses this occasion to show its vibrant, hospitable side.
For four days, stand after stand lines up in the market square. Market vendors bring spring flowers, plants for the garden and balcony, seeds, handicrafts, fashion, home accessories, and gift items. Families will find children's entertainment with carousels, small rides, and play areas, while the city center gains additional appeal on Sunday with the open shopping Sunday: Mayen's shops open their doors outside of regular hours and invite you to stroll and browse.
A special feature of the Mayen Spring Market is the parallel Mayen Car Show, where regional car dealerships present their latest models in the city center – a tradition popular with car fans from the wider region. The offering is complemented by a Food Truck Mile with street food specialties from all over the world: burgers, crêpes, currywurst, Asian specialties, and vegetarian options meet regional classics like Eifel ham and hearty potato pancakes.
The Mayen Spring Market is more than a classic fair: it is a meeting place for generations, a social event, and the unofficial kick-off for Mayen's festival season, which continues with the Pentecost Market, the Schützenfest (shooting festival), the Stone and Castle Festival, and finally the traditional Lukas Market in October.
The 2026 edition of the Mayen Spring Market spans four days and combines classic market activities with modern festival elements. The market square and parts of the city center are fully integrated into the festivities. The city of Mayen officially announced the market as the kick-off for the 2026 event year.
Several dozen market vendors are expected, offering regional and supra-regional products. The focus is on seasonal spring items: spring flowers, garden and balcony plants, seeds, and garden decorations.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in advance. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
