Three-day village festival at Maschen village square on the last weekend of September
The Maschen, Horst, Hörsten Trade and Commerce Association (HGV) has been organizing the village festival for many years and has developed it into one of the largest village festivals in the municipality of Seevetal. The HGV bundles the interests of local businesses and is simultaneously the most important organizer of event culture in the three districts of Maschen, Horst, and Hörsten.
Maschen village square is located in the center of the district and provides the backdrop for the multi-day festival. With a stage, amusement ride area, market stalls, and catering areas, the square is transformed into a festival mile for three days. The central location and excellent S-Bahn connection ensure easy accessibility.
Live music has always been a central element of the Maschener Dorffest. Cover bands, Schlager bands, and occasional star guests provide a varied stage program. Amusement rides such as carousels and dodgem cars complement the musical program and appeal to families and young people. This mix of music and Kirmes (funfair) is typical for North German village festivals and has proven successful for years.
The food and catering stalls offer a wide culinary selection. Classic Volksfest (public festival) dishes like Bratwurst, fries, and crêpes meet international specialties, cocktails, and craft beer. This meets the culinary expectations of a modern audience with diverse tastes.
The date on the last weekend of September is traditional and takes advantage of the last warm days of the year for an open-air festival. Thus, the Maschener Dorffest often marks the end of the summer Volksfest season in the Hamburg-South region.
The 2026 edition continues the tradition on the last weekend of September. The format has proven successful and is reliably tailored to the need for a final open-air festival opportunity before autumn.
The exact stage acts and schedules will be published by the HGV in late summer 2026.
