About Martinimarkt Dahn

The Martinimarkt Dahn builds on the centuries-old tradition of Saint Martin's Markets in the West Palatinate region. Around the feast day of Saint Martin, the city centre of Dahn transforms into a market street with craft stalls, regional specialities, and autumn/winter goods. The Sunday shopping allows for a relaxed browse in the city's shops and makes the market a popular excursion destination in the Felsenland – complete with mulled wine, chestnuts, and the typical atmosphere of a late autumn market in the Palatinate.

Saint Martin Tradition in the Palatinate

The feast day of Saint Martin on November 11th is an important date in the folk church calendar in the predominantly Catholic West Palatinate. Martin's parades, bonfires, and markets take place in numerous towns. The Dahn market fits into this tradition, combining market activities with Sunday shopping.

Craft Market in the City Centre

Stalls along the main street and on the squares of Dahn's city centre offer a typical late autumn selection: household goods, clothing, crafts, leather goods, and sweets. Mixed in are stalls with regional specialities – honey, jams, liqueurs, and baked goods from the Palatinate Forest.

Sunday Shopping

On market day, the shops in Dahn's city centre open their doors outside of the usual Sunday rest. This makes the Martinimarkt a date for families and day-trippers who combine a market stroll with a city tour. Cafés and restaurants are also open and offer regional cuisine.

Felsenland in Late Autumn

The market day falls in a season when the Dahn Felsenland exudes a special tranquility after the end of the hiking season. Colourfully changing leaves, clear views of the colourful sandstone rocks, and the shorter days give the market an autumnal, contemplative atmosphere. The market visit is often combined with a short hike to the Dahn castles.

Martinimarkt Dahn — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Martinimarkt will take place on Sunday, November 8th, in Dahn's city centre. Craft stalls along the main street will present a typical late autumn and winter selection: household goods, clothing, crafts, honey, baked goods, and regional specialities. At the same time, the shops in the city centre will open their doors for Sunday shopping, allowing market browsing and shopping to be combined.

The Martinimarkt is traditionally scheduled around the feast day of Saint Martin (November 11th). Together with the Advent markets in and around Dahn, it marks the start of the pre-Christmas season in the Felsenland.
