About Prinzengarde FastNight 2026
Prinzengarde FastNight 2026 — edition 2026
The 2026 edition is the next iteration of the now-established FastNight format. The Thursday date in the early part of the session season (mid-January) gives the FastNight its own slot before the big weekends with gala sessions. With admission at 6:33 PM and program start at 7:33 PM — both times consciously vary from the classic Mainz 'Elferzeit' symbolism and create their own FastNight time system.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the Mainzer Prinzengarde in January. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years: dense alternation between guard performances, speakers (classic and modern presentations in Mainz dialect), musical contributions, and show acts, without breaks over approximately 3 hours and 11 minutes of program duration. Afterwards, the after-party opens in the Schlosskeller, continuing with DJ sets late into the night.

Mainz hall carnival is a culture that has grown over more than 180 years with firmly established formats: gala session, costume session, ball, children's carnival — each with its own dramaturgy and audience. However, Mainz Carnival is not static: clubs experiment with new formats to reach new target groups and keep hall carnival attractive for the younger generation. The FastNight of the Mainzer Prinzengarde e.V. is one of the most successful of these experimental formats and has established itself as a fixture in the Mainz session landscape in recent years.
The concept is simple at first glance, but demanding in execution: no breaks in the program. While a classic gala session lasts about four hours and is divided by two or three breaks during which guests can move around at the bar, get wine and beer, and talk to others, the FastNight runs as a continuous stage block without interruption. This requires particularly careful dramaturgy from the program: acts must follow each other without the audience losing energy, the transitions between guard performances, speakers, musical contributions, and show elements must be tightly scheduled, and the program as a whole must develop a dynamic curve that ends with a strong final image after 3 hours and 11 minutes.
The Mainzer Prinzengarde e.V. — one of the most famous Mainz guards with a long tradition in Mainz hall carnival — masters this challenge with routine program design, its own dance guards, selected Mainz hall carnival stars, and a dense sequence of stage elements. The start at 7:33 PM (instead of the classic 7:11 PM) and the program length of 3 hours and 11 minutes show a consciously distinct numerology system that plays with the typical Mainz 'Elferzeit' (eleven o'clock time).
The venue, Kurfürstliches Schloss, with its large hall and historic rooms, offers the ideal setting. The after-party in the Schlosskeller extends the evening with a dance segment featuring a DJ, turning the concentrated session into a full festival evening. For 2026, the FastNight is already sold out — a clear sign of the format's success and audience loyalty. Those who couldn't get a ticket can register for next season; the event is regularly and quickly sold out.
