Seasonal flea market series at Schnellenmarkt Uelzen on four Saturdays from May to September for private sellers
The Schnellenmarkt in Uelzen's city center has long been a venue for markets and public events. Its central location, historic surroundings, and good accessibility make it the ideal spot for the seasonal flea market series, which brings together private sellers and bargain hunters every year from May to September.
The 2026 season includes four Saturday dates:
An important feature: At Schnellenmarkt, only private sellers are permitted. This means that no dealers or commercial traders offer their goods; instead, residents from Uelzen and the surrounding area sell items they no longer need from their cellars, attics, and garages. The range includes old books, toys, dishes, clothing, tools, vinyl records, and curious collector's items. The atmosphere is personal — buyers chat with sellers and often learn the story behind the items.
The stand fee of just 2 Euros per meter is nominal and makes the market accessible to everyone. Those wishing to reserve a stand should register with the Hanseatic City of Uelzen. The low barriers ensure a lively, diverse market scene — young families clear out children's clothes, retirees present their collections, students sell old books.
A special variant is the city library's large book flea market on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 8 AM to 1 PM. Here, withdrawn books from the city library and donations are offered at low prices — a treasure trove for book lovers, featuring fiction, non-fiction, children's books, and coffee table books. The proceeds benefit the city library.
The flea market season is more than just a sales format. It's part of the revitalization of Uelzen's city center. Visitors to the flea market also browse the surrounding shops, enjoy a coffee in the pedestrian zone, or visit the nearby city library. This benefits both private sellers and local retailers alike.
The dates are confirmed on uelzener-presse.de and hansestadt-uelzen.de. The book flea market at the city library is secured as a parallel event on June 13.
