Mainzer Hofsänger Jubilee Show Concert – 100 Years

The Mainzer Hofsänger were founded in 1926 and are celebrating their 100th anniversary in 2026. For this occasion, they invite you to the grand anniversary show concert “Showtime mit Band” on Sunday, September 6, 2026, in the Great House of the Staatstheater Mainz. The concert starts at 5:00 PM and ends around 7:30 PM.

100 Years of Choral Singing in Mainz

The Hofsänger are among the best-known male choirs in Rhineland-Palatinate and are an indispensable part of the cultural life of the state capital. Their performances range from classical choir concerts and carnival sessions to large show programs. Over the decades, they have developed numerous of their own programs, recorded records and CDs, and performed guest concerts throughout Germany.

Show Concert with Live Band

For the anniversary concert, the Hofsänger are returning to their trademark: the show format. Instead of a classical choir concert, the audience can expect a fully choreographed show with a live band, showcasing the ensemble's musical breadth. The program spans festive male choir works, carnival classics, pop, musicals, and Schlager, celebrating the 100th birthday in style.

Staatstheater Mainz as a Festive Hall

The venue is the Great House of the Staatstheater Mainz at Gutenbergplatz – the city's central stage with around 800 seats. Inaugurated in 1833 and rebuilt several times, the house has always been closely associated with the city's major festivals and provides a fitting setting for the anniversary.

Tradition with a Future

The Mainzer Hofsänger see the anniversary as a mandate: to contemporarily develop traditional male choral singing, attract young singers, and actively carry the heritage of 100 years into the future. The show concert on September 6, 2026, is the festive stage for this endeavor.
