Traditional village festival in Lutten with a free beer tapping by the mayor, live music, flea market, and vintage car meet
The name Birse comes from the North German dialect and traditionally denotes a larger social gathering or a spiritual assembly with subsequent get-together. In Lutten, this has evolved over generations into the annual village festival with live music, catering, and family entertainment. The Lutter Birse is now a trademark of the district and an occasion for former residents of Lutten from all over the region to return home.
The official start signal is given on Friday evening at 8 PM with the free beer tapping by the mayor of the Goldenstedt municipality. This tradition underscores the close connection between the municipality and the district and is eagerly awaited by the village community. Afterwards, the music program in the marquee begins, and the social gathering commences.
On all three festival days, live bands and DJs provide a party atmosphere in the marquee. Classics from Schlager, Pop, Rock, and Country alternate, offering all generations their favorite music. Performances by local music clubs and friendly groups round off the program.
Sunday is designed as a family day. The large flea market with private and commercial vendors opens at 10 AM. From 11 AM, the vintage car meet complements the program until 6 PM: historic cars, tractors, and motorcycles are presented on the festival meadows, attracting enthusiasts from the entire region. Food stalls, coffee and cake, children's entertainment, and musical accompaniment complete the festival day.
The detailed program for 2026 with times for individual program items will be published by the Lutten associations shortly before the event on nordkreis-vechta.de and in the local press. The general schedule follows the proven three-day Birse tradition.
