Borkum's market between the years on Georg-Schütte-Platz
Unlike most Christmas markets, the Lüttje Markt Borkum doesn't close its doors until after the holidays – it begins on the second day of Christmas and doesn't end until after the New Year. Precisely during the weeks when many guests are on holiday on the island and seeking a quiet island rhythm between the years, it offers conviviality and a winter market selection.
The venue is the Georg-Schütte-Platz boule court in the center of Borkum. The compact area accommodates stalls, patio heaters, a small stage area, and seating groups. Mulled wine, punch, sea buckthorn grog, and winter dishes characterize the culinary offerings. Live music and smaller program items make the market a convivial meeting point.
The market is open daily from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM. This covers both lunchtime visitors and the classic after-beach and evening periods. The central location on Georg-Schütte-Platz is within walking distance of all island accommodations.
The Lüttje Markt is embedded in Borkum's maritime winter season and complements the New Year's program. It is a quiet, cozy alternative to big city New Year's Eve events and is equally appreciated by islanders and guests.
The 2026/27 edition continues the format of a small, compact, and particularly gastronomically focused winter market on the central boule court. Islanders and island guests use the market as a meeting point – the days around New Year's Eve are usually very busy.
The exact program will be published by the organizer in advance. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
