Long Night of Sciences Jena

Program Night November 20, 2026

The 11th edition is designed as a jubilee edition. Over 50 partners are creating a diverse program with interactive formats — from astrophysics to optics and photonics to biomedicine.

Venues and Shuttle

• Beutenberg Campus — Research institutes (Leibniz-IPHT, Hans Knöll Institute, IPHT)
• Jenoptik (Göschwitz) — Optics industry, photonics demonstrations
• EAH Jena (Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences) — Applied sciences, engineering
• FSU Jena — Humanities and life sciences, main building and botanical garden
• University Hospital Jena — Medicine, clinic tours, emergency medicine demonstrations
• Shuttle buses connect all locations every 15–30 minutes

Format

• Lectures (easy to understand, usually 30–45 minutes)
• Lab tours with on-site registration
• Hands-on stations for all age groups
• Science shows with pyrotechnics, optics, robotics
• Family program running concurrently

Program Structure 6 PM–midnight

• 6 PM–7 PM — Opening program at all locations, first lectures
• 7 PM–10 PM — Main program phase with parallel lectures, lab tours, hands-on stations
• 10 PM–midnight — Late program, science shows, box office closes at venues

Getting There

Jena is accessible by ICE/IC trains (stops Jena Paradies or Jena West). Within the city, shuttle buses run between the venues. By car: A4 motorway (exit Jena-Göschwitz).

Tickets

Advance sales start October 2026 at Jena Tourist Information and the FSU Shop. Box office at five venues until 10 PM.
