26th Edition — «ART INSTEAD OF COUCH»
The Long Night of Museums Weimar is one of the oldest and most extensive museum nights in Germany. The 26th edition in 2026 is under the motto «ART INSTEAD OF COUCH» and invites you on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 6 PM to midnight. 36 museums, galleries, archives, churches, and cultural institutions open their doors — a cross-section of Weimar's cultural landscape, turning the entire city into a large exhibition space.
Klassik Stiftung Weimar — Eleven Houses, One Evening
The Klassik Stiftung Weimar, one of Germany's largest cultural institutions, participates with eleven houses: Goethe House and Goethe National Museum, Schiller Museum, Wittumspalais (newly renovated), Stadtschloss, Liszt House, Schiller's Residence, Park an der Ilm, and others. The program includes: guided tours, theater performances, jazz concerts, a Liszt piano evening, and "poet's room tours" through the living spaces of Weimar's classicists.
250 Years of Weimar Drawing School — Special Exhibition «Bertuch's Flowers»
2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the founding of the Weimar Drawing School. For this occasion, the special exhibition «Bertuch's Flowers for Art» presents the historical tradition of the drawing academy under Friedrich Justin Bertuch (1747–1822) — a precursor to Weimar's later Bauhaus tradition. The renovated Wittumspalais also features a special exhibition on Duchess Anna Amalia.
Children's and Family Program with Floral Motifs
Specially for children and families, there is a dedicated program with floral motifs (fitting the Bertuch exhibition), hands-on activities, theater, and child-friendly guided tours through the classicist houses. Children and young people up to 16 years have free admission.
Weimar — UNESCO World Heritage «Classical Weimar»
The city of Weimar in the state of Thuringia is one of Germany's most culturally dense cities. The UNESCO World Heritage site «Classical Weimar» encompasses twelve sites (Goethe House, Schiller's Residence, Park an der Ilm, Wittumspalais, etc.); in addition, there are the Bauhaus World Heritage sites (Bauhaus University Weimar), the Liszt House, and the Nietzsche Archive. The Long Night of Museums has been the central season opener for Weimar's cultural landscape since 2001.
