A night through Braunschweig's museum landscape – special tours, concerts, and hands-on activities in numerous venues
Braunschweig boasts an exceptionally dense museum landscape – from the Herzog Anton Ulrich Museum with its European significance, to the Städtisches Museum, the Landesmuseum, the Naturhistorisches Museum, the Schlossmuseum, and specialized collections and galleries. The Long Night of Museums makes this diversity accessible in one evening.
The proven concept: a single combination ticket opens the doors to all participating venues. Visitors can travel between locations on foot or via shuttle buses. This allows for individual routes – whether focusing on art, natural sciences, city history, or a mix.
Beyond the regular exhibitions, the venues offer special programs: special guided tours with curators, live music in the collection rooms, readings, creative hands-on stations, family activities, and catering. Thus, the museum becomes a place of encounter for one night – not just a place of observation.
The Long Night reaches thousands of people in Braunschweig, including many who rarely visit museums otherwise. It is therefore an important instrument for cultural participation and one of the most successful formats in urban cultural policy.
The 2026 edition of the Long Night will take place on Saturday, May 23, 2026. Venues usually remain open until midnight or later; specific opening hours will be communicated per museum.
The format is organized jointly by the City of Braunschweig and the participating museums and collections.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring. The structure follows the established key points:
Numerous museums in Braunschweig's city center; addresses of participating venues will be published before the event.
City center venues are easily accessible by public transport. Often, an additional shuttle service is available between venues.
Combination ticket for all participating venues. Prices and advance sales will be communicated before the event via the cultural page of the City of Braunschweig.
Family program with hands-on stations and child-friendly tours in many venues.
