One night, one ticket, around 100 museums and galleries in Munich city center
The Long Night of Munich Museums is one of the largest cultural institution nights in Germany. Over 100 museums, collections, galleries, exhibition spaces, and other cultural venues participate on a single evening with a shared concept: one ticket, free entry everywhere, dedicated shuttle lines between venues. The organizer is Münchner GmbH in close cooperation with the cultural department of the state capital Munich.
The venues create their own programs for the night: guided tours, lectures, readings, concerts, performances, live music, workshops, bar and lounge formats. Particularly characteristic is the involvement of small galleries and off-spaces, which set up their own exhibition openings, pop-up exhibitions, and performances for the Long Night. Churches and special cultural sites also open with their own programs. A dedicated children's program with guided tours, workshops, and hands-on activities is available in numerous museums from 2 PM onwards.
A central element is the MVG's own shuttle line infrastructure. Five bus lines run every 10 minutes between the major venues and decentralized locations during the Long Night. The Long Night ticket serves as both an admission and shuttle ticket – no additional MVV ticket is required.
Munich, with the Kunstareal axis around Königsplatz, the Pinakotheken, Lenbachhaus, and the NS-Dokumentationszentrum, as well as the major institutions in Maxvorstadt, the Deutsches Museum on the Isar, and a dense gallery scene in Glockenbach and Schwabing, is one of the most museum-rich cities in Europe. The Long Night is the annual highlight of this cultural offering.
The 2026 edition takes place on Saturday, October 17th, from 6 PM to 1 AM. Around 100 venues are participating – from the large Pinakotheken, Lenbachhaus, and Deutsches Museum to off-galleries, churches, and special venues. A dedicated children's program with guided tours, workshops, and hands-on activities runs from 2 PM onwards.
The Long Night ticket is expected to cost €20 (2025 price) and serves as admission to all participating venues as well as for the five MVG shuttle lines, which run every 10 minutes between the venues.
