Three summer nights of Hip-Hop, Pop, and Classical music in front of the historic Lokschuppen in Dillingen
The Dillingen Lokschuppen is more than just a concert venue: the listed railway ensemble on Werderstraße in the Saarlouis district is a reminder of the city's railway and industrial history, which has been closely linked to the Dillinger Hütte since the 19th century. Today, Kultur- und CityMarketing Dillingen/Saar GmbH (KCM) operates the hall as a venue and uses the outdoor area for open-air concerts in the summer – the Festival Edition bundles these performances into a three-day program.
The concept of the Festival Edition deliberately focuses on genre diversity rather than a single style. Within 72 hours, German rap, mainstream pop, and a classical evening with an orchestra meet at the same location. Those who attend all three days get a rare mix – Hip-Hop fans might discover classical wind instruments for the first time, and classical attendees might hear live rap for the first time.
Dillingen/Saar is located in the west of Saarland, on the banks of the Saar river and directly on the A8 motorway. The Lokschuppen is just a few minutes' walk from the train station, which is a practical advantage for a three-day program with sometimes long evening events. Dillingen is easily accessible by public transport from Saarlouis, Saarbrücken, Trier, and nearby Lorraine.
The Lokschuppen Dillingen has established itself as a fixture in the concert scene of Saarland in recent years. Artists such as Sido, Kool Savas, Mark Forster, and Ronan Keating perform here to a manageable audience, which cannot be compared to large arena tours – a concert experience with a festival character but club atmosphere. It is precisely this mix that makes the Festival Edition so appealing.
The 2026 Festival Edition, with three very different headliners, is one of the most ambitious editions. Friday is dedicated to German rap with two genre veterans, Saturday focuses on Pop hits, and on Sunday, Ronan Keating and a classical orchestra will present a completely different sound world in front of the Lokschuppen. A maximum of 2000 visitors per evening ensures an intimate festival atmosphere.
Tickets available in advance via lokschuppen-dillingen.de and Eventim. Prices vary depending on the evening; seating is primarily available for the classical concert. The Hip-Hop and Pop concerts are mostly standing room.
By train: Dillingen (Saar) station is about 500 meters from the Lokschuppen; direct connections from Saarbrücken, Trier, and Saarlouis. By car: Access via the A8 (Dillingen-Mitte exit), parking spaces around the Lokschuppen are limited – public transport recommended. Saarbrücken-Ensheim Airport is about 60 km away.
Advance sales via the website lokschuppen-dillingen.de and Eventim. Day tickets for individual evenings are sold separately; a combined festival ticket is usually not available. Early booking recommended, especially for the Hip-Hop and Pop evenings.
You will find numerous hotels and guesthouses in Dillingen and Saarlouis. For festival visitors from the region, return travel by train is possible late into the night.
