Loffenau — Health Resort in the Murg Valley

The municipality of Loffenau is located in the southern Black Forest-Murgtal, in the Rastatt district, at an altitude of around 270 meters. With its approximately 2,600 inhabitants, it is one of the smaller Murgtal municipalities — a state-recognized resort with its own spa park, streams, and hiking opportunities in the surrounding Black Forest heights. In 2025, Loffenau celebrated its 725th anniversary (first mentioned in 1300 in the Reichenau Codex).

The Village Festival in the Kurpark

The Loffenau Village Festival is the annual summer festival of the town and will take place in 2026 on the weekend of July 25th and 26th, 2026. The venue is the Kurpark Loffenau with its meadows, streams, and shady trees — an ideal setting for an open-air village festival. The organizers are the local clubs, coordinated by the Loffenau Club Association, in cooperation with the municipal administration.

Opening with Mayor and Cannon Shots

A traditional highlight: The opening on Saturday afternoon is performed by the Mayor, who symbolically opens the festival weekend with a cannon shot after tapping the first keg of beer and a few words to the citizens. This tradition with a firing salute originates from Loffenau's shooting club culture. Afterwards, the stage program begins with club contributions and catering.

Live Music and Laser Show

On Saturday evening, live bands set the mood in the Kurpark — usually regional cover bands or folk music ensembles. A highlight is the laser show in the late evening hours — light projections over the Kurpark, a spectacle for families and young festival-goers. Festival tent catering with Swabian and Baden specialties from the Loffenau clubs: bratwurst, fries, salads, homemade cakes, accompanied by draft beer and Murgtal wines.

Sunday — Open-Air Service

On Sunday, July 26th, 2026, at 10:00 AM, the ecumenical "Open-Air Service" will take place in the Kurpark — jointly organized by the Protestant and Catholic parishes of Loffenau (Ecumenical Circle Loffenau). A beautiful, accessible form of a summer open-air service that brings generations together. Afterwards, a morning pint with the Loffenau Music Association and the festival winding down in the late afternoon.

The Murgtal as a Festival Backdrop

The Murgtal — the deeply cut valley of the Murg river in the northwestern Black Forest — is a traditional destination for hikers and those seeking relaxation. Loffenau is easily accessible via the district road K3717 and the nearby federal roads of the Murgtal. The village festival is an occasion for many Loffenau residents and people from the Murgtal's neighboring towns (Forbach, Gernsbach, Gaggenau) to spend the weekend in the Kurpark — combined with hikes or a dip in the Murg river.
