Atmospheric island illumination with accompanying musical program
As the days grow shorter and the island prepares for the end of the high season, the Lichttage Wangerooge create a special moment. For three evenings, the island transforms into a space of light, where architecture, landscape, and art are experienced anew.
Light artists install their works at prominent points in the island village. Historic house facades are adorned with projections, the West Tower and the Old Lighthouse glow in special colors, and delicate light installations along the paths create a fairytale atmosphere.
The beach promenade becomes an atmospheric path of light, leading island guests from the village to the beach. Light sources along the way, light sculptures on the beach, and perhaps even drone light shows in the sky ensure magical moments.
The light art is complemented by an accompanying musical program. Live music at various points on the island, acoustic sets, and atmospheric soundscapes accompany visitors on their walk through the light.
The car-free island atmosphere enhances the experience: no car headlights, no traffic noise, just the sea, the light, and the music. The Lichttage showcase Wangerooge from an unusual but fascinating perspective.
The 2026 edition continues the idea of marking the transition from high summer to autumn on Wangerooge with an atmospheric light event. The three-day structure offers island guests the opportunity to experience the program in multiple stages.
The exact installations and the musical program for 2026 will be published in advance by the Wangerooge Spa Administration.
