Idyllic Christmas village with decorated wooden stalls, CO₂-neutral ice rink, and Allgäu delicacies
The Leutkirch Christmas Market is one of the most charming Advent markets in the Württemberg Allgäu. For four days — from Thursday, November 26 to Sunday, November 29, 2026 — the historic Marktplatz with its old town hall and the St. Martin's Catholic Church, complemented by the courtyard of the Museum im Bock, will transform into an idyllic Christmas village. Individually decorated wooden stalls line the squares, each with its own Advent theme — the staging is reminiscent of the famous small Advent markets of the Alpine region.
At the market, Allgäu artisans, regional producers, and international exhibitors offer their products: Allgäu mountain cheese, honey, felt crafts, wood carvings, pottery, nativity figures, Christmas decorations. At the food stalls, the Allgäu serves its best: Käsknöpfle, Allgäu sausages, Kässpätzle, Bratwurst, Flammkuchen, Glühwein (also non-alcoholic) and Kinderpunsch. Food and drinks are served in reusable cups — deposit system.
One of the most popular highlights is the synthetic ice rink in the courtyard of the Museum im Bock. Unlike traditional ice rinks with real ice, it is weather-independent and operated entirely CO₂-neutrally — the synthetic ice surface works at any temperature without energy for cooling. Ice skates can be rented for free or for a small deposit; ice skating is possible with free admission.
Every day, a different music group performs on the stage next to the main stall: Allgäu traditional costume bands, choirs, gospel groups from the region, soloists. On Sunday morning, traditionally a brass quartet on the market square — the atmosphere shifts from Christmas market to church-music mood.
Leutkirch (around 22,000 inhabitants, Ravensburg district, postal code 08436) is located in the Württemberg Allgäu and has been a pioneer in sustainability for years: Fairtrade Town, climate-neutral municipality, energy renovation leader. The Christmas market with its reusable cup system and CO₂-neutral ice rink is part of this profile. The town lies at the transition between the Swabian Jura and the Allgäu and is a good starting point for Allgäu tours — ski resorts (Pfänder, Hochgrat) and Lake Constance are reachable within an hour.

The focus of the event is sustainability: reusable cup system, ecologically operated ice rink, regional exhibitors.
The daily music program with Allgäu traditional costume bands, choirs, and soloists creates the typical Advent atmosphere; the market stalls were well-attended throughout the event.
