Four-day highlight of the wine-growing community of Leutesdorf with a wine village on the Rhine and a grand vintner's parade on Sunday.
Leutesdorf is located on the right bank of the Rhine between Andernach and Neuwied and is one of the smallest but most traditional wine-growing communities on the Middle Rhine. The main vineyards — Forstberg, Gartenlay, Rosenberg — produce mineral, long-lasting Rieslings. Several wine-growing families — the "WeinSTEIGwinzer" — have been cultivating vines for generations.
During the wine festival, the town center transforms into an open wine village. The WeinSTEIGwinzer and other vendors set up wine stands, and some vintners also open their courtyards for on-site wine tastings. Standing tables, small stages, food stalls with regional specialties, and seating areas directly on the Rhine create a relaxed festival atmosphere.
Sunday is entirely dedicated to the grand vintner's parade — a festive procession lasting several hours, in which local vintners, clubs, music groups, decorated floats, and the Leutesdorf Wine Queen (if currently elected) participate. A tradition that makes Leutesdorf's self-image as a wine-growing community visible to the outside world.
The Leutesdorf Wine Festival, despite its size for such a small community, has an intimate, personal character that distinguishes it from the larger Linz Wine Festival. Those who value direct contact with the vintners, high-quality Rieslings in a relaxed atmosphere, and an authentic village ambiance will feel right at home in Leutesdorf. Many visitors come from northern Rhineland-Palatinate, the Middle Rhine region, the Eifel, and the Cologne-Bonn area.
The 2026 edition continues the tradition of the festival on the second weekend of September. The exact program details will be published by the municipality of Leutesdorf in the summer of 2026.
