Wine, Art, and Family Festival in the narrow alleys of the Palatinate wine village Leinsweiler at the foot of the Reichsburg Trifels
The Leinsweiler Sommer is the social highlight of the Palatinate wine village Leinsweiler. From July 17 to 19, 2026, the historic village will transform into an open festival scene: Wineries, clubs, artists, and children's program providers will be spread across the main street, Trifelsgasse, and the courtyards – a decentralized format that utilizes the intimate atmosphere of the wine village.
Local wineries and clubs will serve wine, art exhibitions in galleries and courtyards will add a cultural dimension to the wine experience, and a dedicated children's program will ensure a family-friendly atmosphere. Leinsweiler is located at the foot of the Reichsburg Trifels, framed by vineyards and the Palatinate Forest, on the Südliche Weinstraße between Annweiler and Landau.
The Leinsweiler Sommer is not a classic wine festival with a central marquee. Instead, wineries open their courtyards, clubs set up serving stands in the alleys, and artists present their works in galleries and inner courtyards. Visitors wander through the village with a glass and a map, experiencing wine, art, and conviviality at several mini-locations. The format suits the size and architectural fabric of the village and makes the festival a relaxed summer weekend.
The participating Leinsweiler wineries and clubs serve wine directly in the Haupt- and Trifelsgasse. The range includes dry Rieslings, Burgundy family wines, and cuvées, as well as sparkling wines and rosé wines. Palatinate specialties – Saumagen, Bratwurst, Flammkuchen – complement the offerings at the snack stands.
What makes the Leinsweiler Sommer special: the art exhibitions. Painters, sculptors, photographers, and artisans present their works in the inner courtyards, galleries, and private homes. Leinsweiler has a small but active art scene, and the summer festival gives this scene its stage. Wine enjoyment and art discovery go hand in hand, a format reminiscent of the tradition of southern French village festivals.
The village clubs organize a dedicated children's program – with games, craft activities, performances, and a family-friendly area. This makes the Leinsweiler Sommer not just a wine festival for adults, but a weekend for the whole family. A concept that the village's mayor deliberately promotes.
