Christmas Market with Golden Light Magic

From November 17th to December 23rd, 2026, the Lautrer Advent transforms Kaiserslautern's city centre into a Christmas market, distinguished by its characteristic golden fairy lights and a monumentally decorated fir tree. Unlike some regional Christmas markets, the Lautrer Advent consciously stays true to tradition: a compact market in the city centre, a high-quality selection of goods, and a dense atmosphere. The market stalls are spread around the Stiftskirche and Schillerplatz, making a stroll through the market also a walk through the city's centre.

Stalls and Goods

The stalls offer a mix of classic Advent fare and regional specialities. Mulled wine and punch (served in your own mugs), bratwurst, mushrooms, Schupfnudeln (potato noodles), Palatinate specialities, crêpes, almonds, gingerbread hearts, and lard pastries are part of the gastronomic repertoire. Among the sales stands, you'll find wood carvings, nativity figures, stars, candles, jewellery, knitted and woollen goods, Christmas decorations, and gift items.

Music Programme

A significant feature of the Lautrer Advent is its extensive accompanying music programme. Throughout the Advent season, numerous choirs and bands perform on a small stage in the middle of the market: from children's choirs from local schools and church choirs to vocal ensembles and bands playing pop, folk, and country music. Advent Saturdays and late afternoons in the pre-Christmas period, in particular, offer a dense live programme.

Family Offers and Public Transport

For children, the small ice rink is a special attraction, along with a model railway exhibition, carousels, fairy tale readings, and craft stations. On Advent Saturdays, the Stadtwerke Kaiserslautern (SWK) coordinate a free public transport service into the city centre, allowing market visits without the stress of finding parking and representing a conscious climate and transport measure during the market period.
