LandFrauen — a Movement Rich in Tradition

The LandFrauen movement is one of the oldest and largest women's associations in Germany. It emerged in the 1940s and 1950s as a representative body for female farmers and women in rural areas and has since developed into a diverse association that combines education, culture, social activities, and political advocacy. The local LandFrauen association of Altenkirchen is part of this network and, with the Summer Solstice Festival, organizes a fixed annual event in the Westerwald's event calendar.

Together with the Summer Solstice Festival on the previous day, it forms a flea market weekend that many visitors specifically use for a stay in Altenkirchen.
